Static CMS options after Netlify CMS shutdown

Netlify CMS / Decap CMS development has basically stalled. I was using it as the editing interface for Hugo sites and now I need to find a replacement. The whole point was giving clients a web-based editor for static sites without adding a server.

What are people using now? Tina? Sveltia? Something else?

Sveltia CMS is a drop-in replacement for Netlify/Decap CMS with the same config format. The switch took about 10 minutes. It is actively maintained and adds features like bulk editing that Decap never had.

The downside is it is a smaller project so long-term viability is a question.

Tina CMS is the most polished option now. It gives you a visual editor with real-time preview, which is a huge step up from the form-based editing in Netlify CMS. The content is stored in Git so it works with any static generator.

The self-hosted option is free and the setup is well documented for Hugo, Next.js, and Astro. I migrated three sites from Decap to Tina and the clients preferred the new editing experience.

@noderunner Tina sounds like the move. The visual editor with preview is exactly what my clients want. Going to try the Hugo integration this week.
