Payload keeps showing up in my feeds and a couple of dev friends have started using it. The code-first approach appeals to me as a developer but I am wary of the Next.js coupling. Every framework-specific CMS eventually becomes a liability when the framework landscape shifts.
Anyone running Payload in production? How is the content editing experience for non-developers?
Running Payload on two production sites. The developer experience is the best I have used in any CMS, period. Config-as-code means your content model lives in your repo, deploys with your app, and works with TypeScript end to end.
The admin panel is decent for editors but not as polished as Contentful or Sanity. Non-technical editors sometimes struggle with the relationship fields. It is clearly built for developers first.
